Psalm Reflection: Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle C)
“In every age, O Lord, you have been our refuge.” - Psalm 90
We all go through seasons in life. Our planet cycles through seasons and we order our lives around them. Even our Church calendar provides opportunities to deepen our relationship with God through different seasons. God does not change (Malachi 3:6), but our relationship with Him changes constantly, like any other relationship. So, what season are you in right now? Who is God to you today and where do you see Him in your life? Is it easy or hard for you to find time with Him? To notice Him? To feel fulfilled?
We need to have a DTR chat with God often (that’s a “Define The Relationship” chat for you more seasoned readers). When we know where we are, we can communicate to God what we need. If we are in denial that our prayer life is barren, then we won’t be able to ask for the spiritual floodgates to open and bring life to us again.
How do you need God to be your refuge today, in this present moment, taking an honest look at your prayer life and your soul? He is ready to shelter you, but are you ready to ask? And do you know what to ask for?
Something I do everyday is to write in my journal the answer to the question: “who is God to me today?” Try doing that for a week or two and allow yourself to be honest with where you are and what you need from God. I guarantee you will feel more clarity and direction in your relationship with God. We are praying for you this week!
See you in Eucharist.
