Psalm Reflection: Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle B)

“If you, Lord, keep account of my sins, Lord, who can stand? But with you is forgiveness and so you are revered.” -Psalm 130:3-4

We are our own worst critics. We look in the mirror and scrutinize things that other people never notice. We look at our lives and sometimes focus on the few things on the “bad” list, that we completely neglect all the ways we are awesome. Maybe you are battling a habitual sin or persistent struggle and because it has been so constant it feels like your whole life is defined by it. That is the voice of the Devil; he reminds us constantly of what we are not. But God sees you as you are, he loves you as you are and He wants you to see what you could be. There is so much more good than evil in our own lives and in the world, but we pass over it constantly. This week, take time to think about the joys and the blessings in your life. Think about all the things you have, all you can do,  all you have been given. Make a list each day of things that you like about yourself and your life, and offer them as prayers of gratitude each night. We are praying for you.

See you in the Eucharist!
