Psalm Reflection: Corpus Christi Sunday (Cycle B)
“I will raise the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.” -Psalm 116:12
⠀⠀
What is your goal every day? To meet a deadline, tackle a to-do list, run certain errands? Those are all great things that get us through the day, things we raise our cups to and revel in the successes of, but at the end of the day they are done. In 1 Peter 1:9, we hear that the goal of our faith is salvation. Every single day is an opportunity to journey closer to Jesus, closer to Heaven. However, most of the time we are so busy and overwhelmed by the tasks of life that we don’t allow ourselves a spare moment to reorient our hearts to the most important goal of the day. Humans are supposed to get 80% of our energy from our breath, yet the average person gets only about 10% because we have grown accustomed to breathing faster due to our fast-paced lives. We don’t even have time to take a breath. This week, spent five minutes every day just taking a breath and sitting with the Lord, reminding yourself of the true goal of every day and not allowing the to-do lists of life to rule over us.
See you in the Eucharist!
