Psalm Reflection: The Epiphany of the Lord (Cycle C)
“Lord, every nation on earth will adore you.” - Psalm 72
In a world of violence, crime and negativity in the media, it is easy to get jaded as a Christian. It is easy to see the bare minimum as enough compared to the world around you. It is easy to lose hope in redemption for others in our lives and for the world. In those moments, know this fact: God is always victorious in the end. As Christians, we already know the end of the story: If we fix our eyes on Christ, we have eternal security in knowing that Heaven awaits us. There is no excuse, then, not to take a risk for the Gospel, because in Christ we cannot fail. Yes, on earth we may struggle or be unsuccessful in the eyes of others, but in Christ we can always cling to the victory He has already won for us. It is possible for every person and nation on earth to encounter Christ, but it is impossible without you and me. What risk, then, are you willing to take for the Gospel? What fear or obstacle is worth abandoning the victory we have in Christ? Are you living your life in pursuit of Heaven, or simply so you do not go to Hell? Although those two things sound similar, they are drastically different. What would it look like if you and I wholeheartedly believed in the assurance of Heaven and lived lives worthy of it? What is holding you back from owning that victory and sharing it with others? This week, do something out of your comfort zone to share the Gospel or the love of Jesus Christ with someone else. What do you really have to lose? We are praying for you this week!
See you in the Eucharist!
