Psalm Reflection: Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

“I will listen for what God, the Lord, has to say; surely he will speak of peace To his people and to his faithful. May they not turn to foolishness!” - Psalm 85:9

Do you expect to hear back from God? I think too often I talk to God and ask Him for things expecting that He will simply comply or give me what I ask with no caveats or alternatives. It is a rarity that I enter prayer with an expectation to hear God speak in a way I am not ready for or may not agree with. God works in unexpected ways, and every time You encounter Him will be new. He wants to know you in new ways. Allow yourself to expect the unexpected in prayer and in life this week, and to be joyful in receiving whatever He sends you. “God, help me to be surprised by you today, give me the wisdom to joyfully recognize it and to accept it when it happens.” We are praying for you.
