Psalm Reflection: Third Sunday in Advent (Cycle C)
“Cry out with joy and gladness: for among you is the great and Holy One of Israel.” - Isaiah 12
Where do you experience God? In what types of moments do you feel His presence? We live in a culture of entertainment: everything is about high production value, aesthetics, music, lighting, design, etc. Those things are all great, but if our relationship with God is reduced to only encountering Him in big, flashy moments, we will most likely feel disconnected from Him a majority of the time. If we are always looking for a sign, a feeling, or a huge transformation, we will miss God in the small moments of life. God is loving you in little moments every day, and they vastly outnumber the big moments we will have with Him in our lifetime. The good news is that, if we can have a heart that is satisfied with the small gestures of God’s love, we can encounter Him every single day and eventually those small moments and encounters will add up to a relationship with Him that is stronger than any big event or experience and much more long lasting. Every single atom, cell, molecule and organism in this universe has the fingerprint of God on it, and it was all for you. This week, keep a journal of the ways you experience God each day: in a strangers smile, in a good conversation, in having a moment to sit and reflect, and in so many other things. Write them all down and end your day in a prayer of thanksgiving for each way you saw Him loving you that day. We are praying for you this week.
See you in the Eucharist!
